Bob Swab, President of Kernersville Little League called the meeting to order at 6:15 PM. The agenda for the meeting was to discuss the following:
- player ejection from J & R Construction in the Senior Baseball division
- appeal of suspension by manager for TRS in the Major Baseball division
- discussion of All Star manager and coach candidates
The manager for J & R Construction addressed the board in a closed session concerning the behavior of one of his players at a recent game. An altercation
in the dugout ensued over equipment. The situation was potentially dangerous. Proper diligence was performed by the board; and coach, team, player and parent statements
were reviewed and considered.
As a result, the board unanimously decided to suspend the player involved for the remainder of the season, including extended play and fall ball. This player
may reapply to participate in KLL programs for the 2004 season. Additionally, one additional player was put on probation by the board for the remainder of the 2003 season.
Any further incidents, this player will be subject to suspension by the board of directors as well.
The manager for VFW requested his game suspension as a result of ejection during a recent game be lifted; Bob denied the request and emphasized the importance of
the board standing behind the umpire’s decisions.
Bob reviewed the list of managers who are in contention for the All Star teams in their respective divisions. They are:
Senior/Junior League Baseball - Barry Tilley and Ken Freeman
Major League Baseball - Tommy Harrison, Shane Shirey and Tony Mizzi
Minor League Baseball - Phil Swisher, Kevin Wiley and Steve Howell
Senior Softball - there will not be enough girls to field a team
Junior Softball - Mike Babyak and Rob Simmons
Major Softball - Doug Wilson, Russell Truesdale, Chris Fish and Glenda Head
The board was in agreement that the above named managers would represent Kernersville well in All Star Play.

Bob reiterated that only 12, 14, and 15 year olds names are going to appear on the ballot for All Star voting.
Bob suggested the league make a formal policy regarding All Star uniforms. After discussion, Gary Cobbler made a motion to have the All Star teams wear their
gray pants (baseball) or shorts (softball) from regular season for All Star play. The league will furnish hats, socks, and belts for the teams. Parents will
purchase the shirts. The uniform will consist of navy blue flex fit hat or visor with a white “K” and two stars, navy socks, navy belts, navy shirts with white slanted
Kernersville All Star tail swoosh screen. The shirts will be two button placket short-sleeved shirts for baseball and sleeveless two button placket shirts for softball.
All clothing to be purchase from a league approved supplier. Managers not adhering to above uniform code will be subject to disciplinary action including possible removal as
manager of All Star team. The motion was seconded by Cindy Clark; motion carried.
Pam Idol suggested sending Thank You letters to all the league’s sponsors this fall and asking for their support for the 2004 season. Pam is willing to
make copies of the letter.
Bob reminded everyone of the wooden bat tournament which will be held on June 21st at the complex hosted as a fundraiser.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 PM.
