The meeting was
called to order at 7:45 by Bob Swab, Treasurer of Kernersville Little League. There were
25 regular members in attendance.
The minutes from the February 1, 1999 meeting were read by Gale Starbuck; a motion to
approve the minutes was made by Chris Lingafelt, motion seconded by Tommy Wilson; motion
carried.
After giving the Treasurers report Bob addressed the following
issues:
- Monday, March 22, 1999 there will be a meeting at 6:30 PM to discuss the fund raiser
and the concession stand schedule; at 7:30 a certification clinic for managers and coaches
will be held.
- Tryouts will begin Saturday March 6, 1999 at 9:00 AM.
- The umpire clinic has not been scheduled yet for the volunteer umpires.
- A softball tournament will be held at the Swaim Complex March 29 thru March 31,
volunteers are needed to help in the concession stand during this event.
- Sonny advised Bob to let the board know the Granger spreader he planned to purchase
was going to be 6 inches too large to pass thru the gates onto the ball fields, therefore
Sonny has ordered a dump trailer.
The Matt Swaim memorial fund has received $3,200.00. Bob Swab made a motion to place a
marker with a flagpole at the new concessions building, this will cost approxiamately
$1,200.00 to $1,700.00. Chris Lingafelt seconded the motion; motion carried.
Tommy Wilson made a motion to accept the following as managers and coaches in the

After discussing the issue of David Thompsons suspension last year, the
board accepted a motion by Tommy Wilson to name Barry Lawson as manager of Hayworth Miller
Cain and David Thompson as the coach. The motion was seconded by Benny Mabe; motion
carried.
Ginger Howland made a motion to accept the following as managers and coaches in the Major
League Softball division:
Diet Center - Terry Gibbs - Manager
Doss - Van Manuel - Manager
McGees - Melissa Chreitzberg
The motion was seconded by Chris Lingafelt; motion carried.
Ginger is experiencing problems recruiting new managers and coaches in the softball
program due to the requirement of the new managers and coaches having to unpire 20 games
this season. After discussing the rule; Harold Lovelace made a motion to reduce the number
of games new managers and coaches would have to umpire to ten games for both the softball
and baseball programs. The motion was seconded by Gale Starbuck; motion carried.

Frankie has scheduled the senior league tryouts for Saturday, March 6 beginning at 1:00
PM.
Sam Bradley has 105 players signed up for the senior league program, half are returning
players and the other half will be trying out for the program.
