Bob Swab, President of Kernersville Little League,
called the meeting to order at 7:02 PM.
The minutes of the January meeting were read by
Sherry Smagner. A motion was made by Pat McNamara to accept the
minutes as read. The motion was seconded by Mike Robins; motion
carried.
The Treasurer’s report was given by Doug Massey;
currently the league has $13,939.00 in the bank account. Doug
gave the list of sponsors that have sent in their sponsor fees.
They include: Lions Club, Vestal Pontiac/ Buick, Loflin
Concrete, Rick Cremen’s machinist union, Captain Tom’s, VFW, and
Kernersville News.
In regard to prior coaches of record, the following
were named coach of record at the June 2001 meeting, and the new board
made a motion the strike the names from being coach of record.
The board was asked to review this decision and Jonathan Head made a
motion to reinstate Mike Robins and Gary Idol as coaches of record and
following stand as ruled at the December 2001 meeting: Jon
Orenstein, Brian Finnerty and Keith Mahaffey. Tommy Harrison
seconded the motion; motion carried. Sondra Southard abstained.

League managers to be approved:

carried. (Note: Jonathan Head did not vote because his wife was
being voted on.)

The motion was seconded by Cindy Clark, motion carried.

These managers will be voted on later.
Barry Tilley made a motion that the local rules be approved
as modified. The motion was seconded by Gary Cobbler; motion
carried.
The last field workday had approximately a dozen people
show up to participate and they worked on Crutchfield. The next
workday will be February 16, from 9AM to 12PM. It was
suggested that the vice president of each division contact the
managers and have them come to the workdays.
Bob Swab made a motion to create a committee to talk with
the Town of Kernersville in regard to the Sahabi fields, in order to
get them useable. Doug Massey seconded the motion; motion
carried.
Super scrimmage will be held March 23rd at Southwest Little
League for the following divisions: minors, majors and junior
baseball and softball.
April 6th will be Kernersville Little League inter-league
scrimmage.
A special meeting will be held on February 18th, 2002 at
7:00 PM to name coaches of record and to vote on additional managers
if needed.
Coach Pitch tryouts are February 24th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM
and March 3rd from 1:30 - 3:30 PM.
Draft dates will be as follows:
Major draft
March 3, 4:00 PM
Minor draft
March 5, 7:00 PM
Coach Pitch
March 6, 7:00 PM
