Bob Swab, President of Kernersville Little League called the meeting to order at 7:07 PM. There were seventeen regular members in attendance.

The minutes of the January, 2003 meeting were read by Gale Starbuck. A motion was made by Pat McNamara to approve the minutes as read. The motion was seconded by Sherry Smagner; motion approved.

The Treasurer’s report was given by Doug Massey. Presently, the league has $39,427.00 in the bank account. The land payment of $15,000.00 is due by February 15th. A motion was made by Sherry Smagner to approve the Treasurer’s report. The motion was seconded by Jonathan Head.

Sherry Smagner made a motion to approve the following persons as managers for Minor Softball:
Consider It Done - Belinda Howell
Varco Pruden - Brad Smith
The motion was seconded by Don Morton; motion carried.

Chuck Haslebacher made a motion to approve the following persons as managers for Major Softball:
J & R Construction - Doug Wilson
Kernersville News - Glenda Head
TBD team - Hope Greer
MSI - Russell Truesdale
The motion was seconded by Pat McNamara; motion approved.

Jonathan Head made a motion to name the following persons as managers for Senior Softball: 
Checkers - Mike Babyak
Welders Repair - Mike Price
Paine Webber - undecided; need more players
The motion was seconded by Gary Cobbler; motion carried.

Gary Idol made a motion to approve the following people as managers for Senior League Baseball:

Bob may call a special board meeting for February 17th to approve the remaining managers and coaches.

Pat McNamara made a motion to name the following persons as managers for Minor League Baseball: Steve Howell, Danny Garrett, Doug Massey, Rick Cremen, and Jeff Taylor. The sponsorship of the teams will be decided at the next meeting. The motion was seconded by Chuck Haslebacher; motion approved.

Don Morton made a motion to name the following persons as managers for Coach Pitch Baseball:
John Hanson, Mike Ransom, Derek Murphy, Pat McNamara, Steve Hodges, Steve Fischvogt, Andy Parker, Jeff White, and Bill Workman. The team sponsorships will be decided at the next board meeting. The motion was seconded by Sherry Smagner; motion carried.

Don Morton made a motion to name the following persons as managers for Tee Ball: Lee Hauser, Danny Myers, Derek Wood, and Eddie Parrish. The team sponsorships will be decided at the next board meeting. The motion was seconded by Gary Cobbler; motion approved.

Bob gave the following updates pertaining to the league:

- sign ups will be held on February 14th and 15th
- work has been slowed down on the fields due to the weather
- Adopt a Highway work was done last weekend
- the concession stand has been thoroughly cleaned
- the equipment room has been cleaned out
- the first umpire clinic will be held this Saturday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- a safety manual is being written for the league which will meet Little League standards; this will in turn reduce the league’s insurance premium
- Don, Pat and Bob have been consulting with Chad Price for work on the fields at the complex, he should have a proposal ready for their review in the coming week

Rick Cremen presented an overview of the 2002 Fall Ball program. The growth of the program this year presented several problems which the board needs to address before next season. Overall, Rick felt more volunteers are needed to help ensure the success of the program.

Pat and Bob have been exploring the possibility of other groups renting the fields for tournaments. They have been checking on insurance and other costs associated with renting out the complex.

The Middle School Baseball program will have its second sign up this Saturday. They will be interleaguing against teams from Northwest, Davidson and Southwest Little League. The tryouts for this program will be February 15th and 16th.
