Bob Swab, President of Kernersville Little League, called
the meeting to order at 7:05 PM. There were thirteen regular
members in attendance. Bob stated the purpose of the meeting was
to appoint managers and coaches of record before tryouts.
The minutes of the February 4th meeting were read by Gale
Starbuck. A motion was made by Cindy Clark to approve the
minutes as read. The motion was seconded by Jonathan Head;
motion carried.
A motion was made by Gary Idol to name the following
persons as managers and coaches in the Senior League Baseball
division:
Captain Tom’s - Clay Hudson, returning coach
Outwest - David Mabe, coach
Lines, Ultd. - George Woolen, new coach
Swaim - Rex Starbuck, returning coach
Texaco Express - Cliff Querry, returning coach, Mike McClellan,
returning coach
Warrior’s - Mike Robins, new coach
TBD(Cobbler) - Rodney Bettini, new coach
TBD(Howerton) - Joe Mitchell, new coach
The motion was seconded by Tommy Harrison; motion approved.
Gary also stated there were twenty - seven returning
players, thirty - four new players and twenty - three players from
last year who had not signed up. Therefore, the Senior League
may be losing some teams. Unless more players sign up, Gary
Cobbler and Steve Howerton may not have teams. Also, John
Hill’s team may be cut since they only have two returning players.
A motion was made by Mike Robins to name the following
persons as managers and coaches in the Major League Baseball division:
VFW - Tim Lawson to replace Mike Smith as manager
Lions Club - Jon Orenstein, coach
Civitan - Ken Binkley, coach
Loflin Concrete - Greg Griggs, coach
American Valve - Mark Daniels, coach
The motion was seconded by Sherri Smagner; motion
approved.
Tommy Harrison made a motion to name the following persons
as managers and coaches in the Minor League Baseball division: (note:
some were previously approved at the February 4th meeting; and some
managers have since become “coaches”)

Bob Swab gave an overview of the number of teams each
division may have unless we receive more applications. At this
point there will be four teams in Senior baseball and Major softball,
and three Minor softball teams. Interleague play with High Point
in Minor softball may be a possibility this year. High Point
will have three or four teams. Minor League baseball teams may
be cut back to eight teams this year.
Mike Robins has been getting quotes from photographers for
this year’s team pictures. He should have the information
ready to present at the March meeting.
A discussion concerning managers and coaches not returning
league equipment was held. A motion was made by Gary Cobbler to
collect a $50.00 check from each manager and a signed release form,
prior to issuing any equipment. The check will not be cashed
unless the manager fails to return the equipment. The motion was
seconded by Cindy Clark; motion carried.

Tommy Wilson will decide on a night for Senior
Softball.
