Bob Swab, president of Kernersville Little League, called
the meeting to order at 7:05 PM. There were twenty-three regular
members in attendance.
The minutes of the December meeting were read by Gale
Starbuck. A motion was made by Mike Robins to accept the minutes as
read. The motion was seconded by Pat McNamara; motion carried.
The Treasurer’s report was given by Doug Massey;
currently the league has $11,832.00 in the bank account. This amount
includes the parking lot fund. Bill Adams has received a $1,000.00
contribution from Wal-Mart.
Bob expressed appreciation to Sam Bradley for preparing the
league’s tax return at no charge.
Barry Tilley presented the Local Playing Rules for the 2002
season. The rules were reviewed and will be voted on at the next
meeting.
January 26th & 27th are the dates for a Little League
clinic in Charlotte.
A master schedule for the 2002 season was reviewed. The
schedule includes work days at the complex, and two dates for the Rule
Review meetings of which managers must attend at least one.
Pat McNamara gave information on this year’s fundraisers. The
committee is considering Krispy Kreme Doughnut cards, pizzas, and
trophies.
A discussion regarding last month’s motion pertaining to
the coaches of record from May and June was held. Bob recommended
tabling the discussion until the February meeting.
Bob reminded everyone of the Little League Camp in
Williamsport. The camp will be held the last week of July and cost
$225.00.
Anyone with items for the Kernersville newsletter need to
turn them in to Bob as soon as possible. The newsletter will be
distributed via e-mail.
The Big League Baseball program with area high school
coaches has been reviewed with the Forsyth County Athletic Director.
They are planning to participate countywide this season , and may have
some participation from surrounding counties.
